Honda Ridgeline Overview

The 2026 Honda Ridgeline marks the 20th anniversary of the nameplate, maintaining its position as a versatile unibody pickup focused on comfort and utility. Assembled in Lincoln, Alabama, the Ridgeline continues to feature a standard all-wheel-drive system across all four trim levels: Sport, RTL, TrailSport, and Black Edition. Known for its "packaging magic," the vehicle offers segment-exclusive features such as the dual-action tailgate and an In-Bed Trunk.

The powertrain remains consistent, delivering an EPA-estimated 21 combined MPG for most grades (20 MPG for the TrailSport). It is designed to attract new buyers to the brand by offering a more refined driving experience than traditional body-on-frame trucks while maintaining a maximum towing capacity suitable for recreational use.

What’s New for 2026

The 2026 model year introduces specific aesthetic updates to the higher trim levels:

• Black Edition Roof Option: The range-topping trim now offers an optional contrasting black roof when paired with Sonic Gray Pearl or Platinum White Pearl paint.
• TrailSport Exclusive Color: An Ash Green Metallic paint option is now available exclusively for the TrailSport grade, a color shared with the new Passport and CR-V TrailSport models.
• Pricing Updates: The lineup now starts at an MSRP of $40,595 for the Sport trim.
• Accessory Packages: New post-production packages have been highlighted, including the HPD 18-inch Black Alloy Wheels with all-terrain tires.

The American pickup truck segment is one of the most passionate markets in the automotive world. Not only do most consumers have a specific brand they favor, but many also believe a truck must be built a specific way – body-on-frame.

In many parts of the world, smaller unibody pickups have had great success. In America though, it hasn’t always been the case. We recently spent a week with the 2023 Honda Ridgeline and found it would suit a lot of potential mid-size pickup truck buyer’s needs. One of the big hesitations we’ve heard from shoppers though is if it’s ‘truck’ enough. Being a unibody construction, there are some drawbacks to this platform such as lower towing capacity.

After the American brands all but pulled out of the midsize truck segment, the Toyota Tacoma dominated the class thanks to little competition.

The biggest competitor to the Tacoma was and continues to be the Nissan Frontier, but Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, and Jeep have all jumped back into the segment with traditional trucks as it has grown exponentially over the last decade.

On the other hand, Honda took a different approach to the pickup world, with the Ridgeline offering more of an SUV feel by coupling a unibody construction with the cargo bed of a midsize truck. As a result, the Ridgeline is unlike any of the other midsize pickups, but that is what has made it so attractive to owners. It offers a more car-like feel and more enclosed storage than any other midsize truck while still featuring bed space and room for five passengers.
