Toyota is recalling certain years of the Prius family. Total, it includes 141,286 cars from the 2023-2024 Prius Prime, 2023-2026 Prius, and 2025-2026 Prius Plug-in Hybrid lineups. The issue centers around water, which could enter through the rear door switch and cause a short circuit, thus allowing the rear door to suddenly open. This is not optimal, especially when cruising down the highway.

Toyota will need to modify the rear door switch circuits, free of charge of course. Those owners that are affected should get letters mailed out to them on March 15, 2026. Until then, customers can contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331.
