New Hyundais Are Going To Start Looking Like This
Hyundai’s new hydrogen-powered Initium concept showcases the brand’s upcoming “Art of Steel” design direction.
Built around a hydrogen fuel cell system, the Initium is expected to offer a maximum range of 404 miles, giving it an edge over its predecessor, the Nexo, which topped out at 380 miles. The new concept is equipped with a 201-horsepower electric motor, offering a notable boost over the previous model’s output.
Aesthetically, the Initium brings a bold, boxy look and innovative design elements, from quad-square lighting patterns to aerodynamic 21-inch wheels housed in muscular fenders.
The SUV’s roof rack, taillights, and brake lights all showcase a unique “HTWO” motif, emphasizing its hydrogen power. Beyond its driving range, Hyundai has added a practical twist with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing users to plug into a standard 220V outlet for portable power when needed.
Inside, while Hyundai hasn’t revealed the full interior, it promises a spacious cabin with wide-opening rear doors, reclining seats for passenger comfort, and a robust safety structure. Following its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, the Initium will transition to a production model set for a 2025 launch.
