What Changes Did Tesla Make To The 2025 Model Y Launch Series?

Tesla’s refreshed Model Y is set to hit U.S. roads this March, following its debut in China.
Arriving in "Launch Series," trim, the early models will offer improved range, and uprated performance, among other upgrades.
Priced at $59,990 before taxes and incentives, the 2025 Model Y Launch Series is $12,000 more expensive than the outgoing Long Range AWD trim. In return, Tesla provides a slight boost in range, with the Launch Series offering an estimated 320 miles per charge compared to the current version's 311 miles.
The SUV can refuel up to 154 miles of range in just 15 minutes with DC fast charging. Acceleration has also improved, with the Launch Series hitting 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, down from 4.8 seconds.
2025 Tesla Model Y Launch Series: All The Details
The Launch Series arrives fully equipped, mirroring Tesla’s approach for the Foundation Series Cybertruck. It includes Full-Self Driving (Supervised) as standard, a premium vegan suede interior, and exclusive Launch Series badging. Tesla is expected to release additional trims later, but for now, this is the only option listed on the automaker’s U.S. website.
What's New
The updated Model Y introduces key design changes inspired by the Tesla Robotaxi and Cybertruck. The most notable is the full-width light bar at the front and rear.
Inside, Tesla promises a quieter cabin thanks to improvements like acoustic glass, upgraded suspension, and redesigned body castings. New features include an 8-inch rear touchscreen, ventilated front seats (adding to their existing heating and power adjustability), and powered second-row seats.
Significantly, Tesla has added a turn signal stalk.
The Model Y has been the world’s best-selling vehicle across all categories. However, Tesla faces mounting pressure as its lineup ages and rivals continue to narrow the gap in the EV market—there's also the swelling dislike for Elon Musk that could create further downward pressure on Tesla's volume— the automaker’s global sales already declined for the first time in a decade last year.
The Launch Series’ high price may limit its initial appeal, but it's still one of the most affordable and highest-performing electric vehicles on offer.
