Jaguar Type 00 Concept Debuts In Miami

Jaguar has unveiled the Type 00 Concept, a glimpse into the brand’s all-electric future.

Debuting last night at Miami Art Week, the Type 00 Concept is a roadmap of Jaguar’s intent to merge luxury with creativity—a design philosophy the automaker calls 'Exuberant Modernism.' The concept plays heavy with modern motifs, combining geometric shapes with vivid color, it's supposed to be a nod to Jaguar’s heritage while embracing minimalism.

Presented in two colors, dubbed Miami Pink and London Blue, the paintwork acknowledges the iconic Art Deco surroundings of its reveal, and references the brand's British heritage

The exterior design is simple, bordering on basic. The long hood flows into a fastback silhouette, with razor-thin lights and a washboard 'grille' dominating the front. The low-mounted brass ingots hide rear-facing cameras, needed in the absence of a rear window. At the rear, a unique pantograph tailgate opens to reveal a rear cargo area, framed by full-width taillights integrated into what looks like a window-mounted air conditioning unit.

Inside, the Type 00 Concept is even more aesthetically minimalist. Butterfly doors lead to a cabin with flat front seats bisected by a brass spine. In place of visible controls or instruments, dual screens rotate up from the dashboard when needed. The interior materials feature a wool blend inspired by handwoven yarns and structural components made from travertine stone, adding an unexpected but luxurious touch.

Mechanically, the Type 00 rides on Jaguar’s new JEA architecture, designed exclusively for the brand’s next-generation EVs. While details remain nonexistent, Jaguar says it's targeting an EPA-estimated range of 430 miles, with 200 miles of range replenished in just 15 minutes on a high-speed charger.

The first production model inspired by the Type 00 Concept will be a four-door GT, slated to debut in late 2025. Early spy photos suggest it will carry over some of the concept’s dramatic proportions and design elements.

In a vacuum, the Type 00 is conventionally attractive, with a few questionable aesthetic choices—however, when framed against the 'Copy Nothing' ethos Jaguar recently put forward, the concept falls flat. The geometric design language is frankly derivative of the Cybertruck—sure, everything is a copy, of a copy, of a copy, I've read my Baudrillard thanks, but that's why you don't throw rocks at glass houses.

The brand itself says the design incorporates E-Type influences, seemingly violating the 'Delete Everything' part of the new brand mantra. Meanwhile, the use of wool blends and handwoven yarns is certainly not a new thing—it's not even newly resurrected— as Cadillac's been integrating wool blends in its concepts for the last several years. Speaking of Cadillac, is anyone else getting strong Celestiq vibes, especially in profile?

Jaguar has officially turned into a dumpster fire... Apparently nothing but PRONOUNS running the company these days... Hopefully the company is bankrupt within the next few years....
