Ford Gives The Super Duty More Muscle For 2027
Ford is making several updates to its Super Duty lineup for the 2027 model year, expanding off-road capability across the range and introducing new luxury options for commercial-oriented chassis cab models.
The changes come after Ford says it gathered feedback from owners looking for more flexibility in how they configure the heavy-duty trucks.
One of the biggest updates is the expanded availability of the Tremor Off-Road Package. Previously limited to select configurations, the package will now be available across all Super Duty models, including trucks equipped with the STX Appearance Package.
The Tremor setup transforms the heavy-duty pickup into a more capable off-road machine. It includes 35-inch all-terrain tires, a factory suspension lift, skid plates, an electronic locking rear differential, Rock Crawl Mode, and Ford’s Trail Control system, which functions as a low-speed off-road cruise control.
Ford has also confirmed that even Crew Cab models with the long 176-inch wheelbase and 8-foot bed can now be ordered with the Tremor package. Those trucks can also be paired with a 48-gallon fuel tank, helping extend range during long-distance hauling or off-road adventures.
New Super Duty XL Off-Road Options
The company is also updating its XL Off-Road Package, which debuted in 2023. The original setup included 33-inch off-road tires, skid plates, and an electronic locking differential.
For 2027, Ford says some customers asked for greater ground clearance without the additional styling elements or interior upgrades found on higher trims. In response, the company is introducing a new XL Off-Road 35-Inch Tire Package.
This package adds 35-inch tires, increased ride height, performance shocks, a limited-slip front differential, an electronic locking rear differential, Trail Control, Rock Crawl Mode, Trail Turn Assist, and skid plates protecting the transfer case and fuel tank.
For buyers who prefer a slightly more modest setup, Ford will also offer a renamed XL Off-Road 33-Inch Tire Package, retaining the smaller tire option while keeping off-road capability intact.
Luxury Comes to Chassis Cab Models
In addition to off-road upgrades, Ford is expanding luxury options for customers who use Super Duty trucks for work.
For the first time, Platinum trim will be available on F-350, F-450, and F-550 Chassis Cab models. These trucks are commonly purchased by businesses and upfitters who install specialized equipment such as flatbeds, tow bodies, or service bodies.
Adding Platinum trim allows those work-focused trucks to be paired with premium interior materials and higher-end features, giving owners the option of combining commercial capability with a more upscale cabin.
