Jaguar Will Finally Reveal The Name Of Its Controversial EV Next Week
Save the date: On May 12th, Jaguar will finally reveal the name of its all-electric four-door Grand Tourer. The car has been talked about endlessly, in both positive and negative favor, and though we don't expect to lean anything in the realm of pricing or specifications, we should at least know what to call this mysterious Jag.
December 2024 was when Jaguar pulled the wraps off its then-named Type 00 Concept, a car that shook the automotive world to its core and made people rethink the Jaguar brand's existence and future.
Since then, Jaguar has been almost entirely silent, only removing models from its lineup and vanishing further into the ether. But that is supposedly about to change, with the electric Jaguar's name being announced next week.
May 12th might be right around the corner, but there's a long way to go to the car's actual unveiling. Rumor has it this won't happen until the fall, by when Jaguar will have finalized the design and powertrain. Speaking of such, Jaguar is saying the car will make over 1,000 horsepower and around 959 lb-ft of torque. Big numbers, but this sure looks like a big car. Electric range? Also big, at a supposed 430+ miles.
Jaguar is internally calling the car X900, which sounds like a camera or cell phone more than a car. What do you think they'll be calling this car? Maybe XKE?
