The Best Public EV Fast Charging Networks Ranked By Satisfaction

Public EV charging infrastructure is making significant strides forward as automaker-backed networks elevate industry standards.


According to the JD Power 2026 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Public Charging Study, overall customer satisfaction with DC fast chargers has increased substantially, while station failure rates have dropped to an all-time low of 12%.


Counting down from the lowest-rated network to the top-performing operator, each public DC fast charging networks was ranked based on its customer satisfaction and scored out of 1,000 possible points; the overall DC Fast Charger Segment Average sits at 666 Points:

8) ChargePoint — 583 Points Anchoring the bottom of the rankings, ChargePoint trails the competition due to inconsistent maintenance and hardware performance across its independently hosted locations.


7) EVgo — 601 Points While offering strong location convenience in urban centers, EVgo struggles with lower scores in charging speed and overall station satisfaction.


6) Electrify America — 616 Points As one of the largest non-Tesla open networks, Electrify America continues hardware overhaul efforts, though its satisfaction score remains behind newer competitors.


5) Red E — 628 Points Positioned just below the segment average, Red E provides regional fast-charging infrastructure but lags behind top-tier OEM networks in ease of use.


4) Tesla Supercharger — 701 Points The long-time industry benchmark for reliability stays well above the segment average as it opens its massive footprint to non-Tesla vehicles.


3) Rivian Adventure Network — 755 Points Landing on the podium, Rivian's dedicated network earns high marks for station reliability, fast charging speeds, and seamless plug-and-charge convenience.


2) Mercedes-Benz Charging Network — 797 Points Taking second place, the Mercedes-Benz network delivers a high-end experience defined by well-lit facilities, strong charger availability, and premium site amenities.


1) IONNA — 807 Points Claiming victory in its very first year of eligibility, the joint automaker network IONNA leads the industry with top scores in speed, reliability, and driver-centric site design.
