Volvo Launches New 2026 EX30 Models, Big Updates for 2026 EX90
Volvo Car USA has outlined what’s new for its 2026 electric lineup, which includes updates to the EX90 and new versions of the EX30, including the EX30 Cross Country and EX30 Single Motor.
Upgrades for the 2026 EX90
The 2026 EX90 introduces an 800-volt electrical system, allowing for faster and more efficient charging. At compatible stations, it can add up to 155 miles of range in about 10 minutes.
Each EX90 also receives an upgraded core computer based on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin platform, now offering 500 trillion operations per second of computing power. This enables new safety and driver-assist features such as connected safety alerts for slippery roads, automatic emergency steering in low-visibility conditions, and Emergency Stop Assist with automatic e-call. The same computer upgrade will also roll out to 2025 EX90 owners at no additional cost.
The EX90 lineup expands for 2026 with the addition of a Single Motor version. Power increases across the range, including the Twin Motor Performance model, which now produces 670 horsepower—the most powerful Volvo yet. The model also adds an optional electrochromic panoramic roof and new ventilated Nappa leather seats available in three colors: Cardamom, Dawn, and Charcoal.
EX30 Single Motor joins the U.S. lineup
Following the U.S. debut of the EX30 Twin Motor Performance last year, Volvo is adding the Single Motor version for 2026. Offered in the Plus trim, it starts at $38,950 and provides an EPA-estimated range of up to 261 miles. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes about 28 minutes.
The EX30 remains Volvo’s smallest SUV, designed to minimize its overall carbon footprint. Its interior uses recycled and renewable materials, complementing its zero-emission powertrain. The model has received several design and innovation awards, including the 2024 World Urban Car of the Year and the Red Dot “Best of the Best” award.
EX30 Cross Country adds all-terrain capability
The new EX30 Cross Country version brings all-wheel drive, higher ground clearance, and available all-terrain tires for better traction on rougher surfaces. It can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 27 minutes. The model features unique design touches such as skid plates, extended wheel arches, and a dark front panel with a map of Sweden’s Kebnekaise mountain range. It will be sold exclusively as the Twin Motor Ultra model, starting at $48,150.
EX40 gets Black Edition styling
Lastly, Volvo is expanding its Black Edition styling option to the EX40, its first fully electric model in the U.S. to offer it. The Black Edition is available in Onyx Black, Crystal White, Vapour Grey, and Denim Blue, allowing buyers to choose between high-contrast or monochrome looks.
