The march of the 911 variants continues, and it's likely to be another hybrid-powered coupe.

Fun fact: today marks 150 years since the birth of Ferdinand Porsche. The brand which bears his name is gearing up for the IAA Mobility show in Munich this month, where it is expected to debut the all-electric version of the Cayenne SUV. The new model won't be alone on the Stuttgart brand's stand however, as a new 911 variant will arrive on September 7.

The 911 is famous for its myriad models, and the current 992.2-generation sports car is only mid-way through its expected roll-outs. We've got the base models, the manual-only Carrera T, the upgrade Carrera S, and the hybrid-powered 911 GTS, with the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive and coupe, convertible, or Targa body styles peppered throughout. Don't forget the latest GT3 and GT3 Touring, and the special-edition Spirit 70 model. So what's this?

Based on the profile and the lack of a towering rear wing, what we're looking at is the new 911 Turbo S. We already know the Turbo S is slotted for a 2025 reveal, and Porsche has confirmed it will be adopting the hybrid turbo setup that first debuted on the 911 GTS last year. Beyond that, we only have two quick teasers on Instagram that seem to confirm a turbocharged engine note and the lightning-quick shifts of a PDK 'box.

For reference, the current 911 GTS makes 532 horsepower and 449 pound-feet of torque from its hybrid 3.6-liter flat-six setup. The outgoing 911 Turbo S made 640 hp and 590 lb-ft from its 3.75-liter engine. Whether the new Turbo S will adapt the hybrid turbo setup to that larger motor, or use a higher-powered version of the new 3.6-liter, remains to be seen. Porsche isn't in the business of replacing one model with a slower one, however, so we expect at least 650 horsepower, and a run to 62 mph (100 km/h) under 2.7 seconds, which is what the 992.1 managed with the available Sport Chrono pack.

We'll know soon enough, as the new model will debut at 1500 CEST on September 7; that's 9AM Eastern or 6AM Pacific for us North Americans.
