Drivers Of These Cars Get The Most DUIs
You may have some preconceived ideas about the cars that people are most likely to drive while under the influence.
Muscle or sporty cars seem likely, but in reality, a pair of Buick models lead the rankings along with several other SUVs and minivans. Insurify.com ran the numbers using its own database of 97 million car insurance quotes to compile this list, and we’ve included the top 10 below.
Top 10 cars that have the highest share of drivers with DUIs: |
---|
Buick Envista |
Buick Encore GX |
Chevrolet Bolt EV |
Chevrolet Astro |
Chevrolet Blazer |
Jaguar XF |
Buick Enclave |
Volkswagen New Beetle |
Chrysler Pacifica |
Ford Bronco |
According to Insurify.com, 72.1 out of 1,000 Buick Envista drivers reported a DUI on their driving record, followed by the Buick Encore GX (58.7 out of 1,000) and Chevy Bolt EV (40.6 out of 1,000). The old Chevy Astro is next, and while it hasn’t been in production since 2005, there are still plenty on the road.
Insurify.com reports that 32% of traffic fatalities in America involve a drunk driver. Nearly a million Americans receive DUI citations every year, but the true number of people who get behind the wheel while over the legal limit of .08% is much higher, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s annual National Survey on Drug Use and Health. The number spikes toward the end of the year between the Thanksgiving and New Year’s holiday periods, which means drivers on America’s roads need to be extra careful during those times.
