Audi is rolling out a broad set of updates for the 2026 A5 and Q5, covering both hardware and software. The changes focus mainly on the infotainment system, driver displays, and added convenience and safety features. These updates will be standard on 2026 A5 and Q5 models arriving at dealerships in the first quarter of 2026.

Both model lines get a redesigned MMI system, a revised multifunction steering wheel with the scroll wheel returning, updated Audi drive select functionality, expanded driver assistance and parking features, improved voice control, and the option of a factory-integrated dashcam. Audi is also including Signature Care scheduled maintenance for the first three years or 30,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The updates are built on Audi’s current Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) and E3 electronic architecture, which underpin the latest A5 and Q5 models.

Updated MMI and digital displays

For 2026, Audi is introducing a new design language across the digital displays that make up what it calls the Audi Digital Stage. This includes the central touchscreen, the virtual cockpit, and the optional front passenger display. The goal here is consistency across screens and easier navigation, with a cleaner layout and clearer separation between information and selectable functions.

The center touchscreen now relies more on graphics and fewer text-heavy lists. Audi has adjusted background colors and contrast to make icons easier to identify at a glance. Built-in Audi apps use white backgrounds, while third-party apps appear in color. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also benefit from clearer visual differentiation. A small clock is now fixed in the upper-left corner of the display, and the Audi digital assistant has updated on-screen animations.

The Audi virtual cockpit has been simplified with fewer icons and a clearer layout. Drivers can switch between three main views using the steering-wheel-mounted “View” button: a traditional gauge layout, a navigation-focused view, or a driver-assistance view. Time and outside temperature remain visible in the same spot regardless of the selected view.

In the standard instrument view, the central display changes appearance depending on the selected drive mode. Additional information can appear on the left and right sides, including navigation prompts, vehicle data, phone and media details, and audio information.

Smartphone integration has also been expanded. Navigation, media, and phone functions from a connected smartphone can now appear not only on the center screen, but also in the virtual cockpit.

The optional front passenger display uses the same updated design language and adds new standby screens showing time and date. It now supports an independent Bluetooth headset, allowing the passenger to watch videos, browse the internet, or play games without routing audio through the cabin speakers. The driver can continue listening to other audio sources at the same time.

Steering wheel and trim updates

All 2026 A5 and Q5 models receive a redesigned multifunction steering wheel, bringing back the physical scroll wheel and moving away from touch-sensitive controls.

On the A5 lineup, the base Premium trim adds a top-view camera system, a heated steering wheel, and remote engine start through the Audi Connect CARE package. Premium Plus models gain access to the new Audi dashcam system, along with an optional Technology package that includes a head-up display and passenger display. Prestige models add park assist pro with remote functionality, rear emergency brake assist, and a 3D top-view camera system.

Audi is also offering an S Sport suspension on the A5, along with an updated Warm Weather package that now includes Bang & Olufsen headrest speakers on Premium Plus trims. A new S line black optic package is available across the A5 range, adding black exterior accents and 19-inch wheels. The S5 receives similar updates, along with a new drive select mode detailed below.

For the Q5 and Q5 Sportback, the Premium trim adds more customizable Audi drive select options, remote engine start, and a panoramic sunroof on the Q5 SUV. Premium Plus trims gain access to the new dashcam system, an additional LED headlight light signature, and a Technology package that brings the head-up display and passenger display down from the Prestige trim.

Prestige Q5 and Q5 Sportback models now include Audi drive select assistant, park assist pro with remote functionality, rear emergency brake assist, and a 3D top-view camera system. A black optic package is also available on select trims, adding larger wheels and black exterior accents. An illuminated version of the black Audi rings is offered as an accessory on certain configurations.

The SQ5 and SQ5 Sportback follow the same general update path, with Prestige models now offering an optional Carbon package. All Q5 and SQ5 models can still be equipped with an optional trailer hitch rated for up to 4,400 pounds.

Integrated Audi dashcam

A new factory-installed dashcam is available across the 2026 A5 and Q5 lineups. It’s mounted at the base of the interior rearview mirror and records 4K video using HDR and a light-sensitive sensor to improve visibility in low-light conditions.

Recording is controlled through an app on the center display. The system continuously buffers video and, when triggered either automatically during an accident or manually by the driver, saves footage from 30 seconds before and after the event. Automatic recording can also be tied to actions like emergency braking or activating the hazard lights.

All footage is stored locally on a removable SD card provided by the owner. No data is transmitted outside the vehicle. In addition to video and images, the system records speed, time, and navigation data, all of which can be reviewed directly on the center screen.

New drive modes and drive select assistant

For the 2026 S5, Audi is adding a new drive select mode called dynamic plus. This mode adjusts drivetrain response, torque distribution, and stability control behavior to allow more driver control, including the ability to manage oversteer under certain conditions. Manual gear changes remain driver-controlled, and the instrument display switches to a sport-focused layout with shift lights and a round tachometer.

Audi is also introducing a drive select assistant on Prestige trims of the A5, Q5, Q5 Sportback, S5, and SQ5. When enabled, the system automatically adjusts drive modes based on driving conditions and the driver’s habits, aiming to balance ride comfort and responsiveness throughout a trip.

Driver assistance and parking features

Park assist pro has been expanded for 2026. Reverse assist can now steer the vehicle for the final 150 feet when backing into a space. Maneuver assist is also available to help in tight parking situations.

The trained parking function allows the system to store up to five parking maneuvers, each up to 600 feet long, and repeat them automatically on private property. Garage parking via smartphone is also supported on models equipped with park assist pro with remote functionality, which is standard on Prestige trims.

Updated voice assistant and in-car features

The Audi voice assistant has been updated to answer questions using information from the owner’s manual. Drivers can also use voice commands to control certain driver-assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise assist. Over time, the system can recognize repeated behaviors and automate them, such as engaging cruise control on highways or raising the suspension at known obstacles.

Audi is also adding “experience worlds,” which combine lighting, audio, seat massage, and climate settings into preset scenarios. At launch, three modes are available, each running for 10 to 20 minutes.

Passenger-focused features have also been expanded, including Bluetooth-connected game controllers and wireless headphones for private audio playback when using the passenger display.

Availability and pricing

The updated 2026 Audi A5 and Q5 models are scheduled to arrive at U.S. dealerships in the first quarter of 2026. Pricing starts at $50,200 for the A5 and $52,800 for the Q5.
