2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat and R/T Scat Pack Gain Wide Body Stance and Demon Track Apps

It’s going to be even hard to miss a Dodge Charger Hellcat in 2020 since it now features a standard widebody to go along with its 707-horsepower. For those who don’t want to spring for a Hellcat model, the R/T Scat Pack will also be offered with a wide body.

Unlike the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, which offers the widebody as an option, the Charger will be equipped this way right from the factory, along with bigger wheels and tires.

The widebody features larger front and rear fender flares which widens the stance by 3.5-inches. That may not sound like much, but it’s definitely noticeable in the flesh, especially thanks to the 20-inch wheels that are wrapped in 305 widths Pirelli PZero tires. The car also gets Brembo 6-piston calipers for the front wheels and 4-piston calipers for the rears. These brakes are also included in the R/T Scat Pack.

The Challenger Hellcat also gains front sway bars that are 32 percent stiffer, larger front and rear sway bars as well as retuned rear dampers that feature stiffer springs. Additionally, some cool features from the drag-strip focused Challenger Demon has made it to the Charger Hellcat including Race Cooldown mode, Line Lock, Launch Control and Launch Assist.

Under the hood of the Hellcat is the same 707-hp supercharged V8 engine that makes 650 lb-ft of torque. It’s set to hit highway speeds in just 3.6 seconds while completing the quarter mile faster than 11 seconds. The wider stance means wider tires with more grip and that should make it more capable on the track.

According to Dodge, all the improvements to the Charger Hellcat has led to a 2.1 seconds faster lap time around their 2.1-mile test track, beating the last model by about 13 car-lengths.

Those looking to get the Hellcat looks, without the Hellcat power numbers or fuel bill can opt for an R/T Scat Pack model. This uses a 485 horsepower V8 that hits highway speeds in 4.3 seconds.
