AutoGuide.com's Top 10 Most Popular News and Feature Stories: 2018
The year is coming to a close and 2018 was a pretty big one for the automotive industry.
From auto shows getting quieter and carmakers going full steam ahead on crossovers and electrified offerings, it was also a great year for new launches and technology. Our Top 10 most popular stories provide a telling cross-section of what AutoGuide.com readers found most interesting.
Here are AutoGuide.com‘s 10 most popular news and feature stories published in 2018.
The first story on here is about a topic you’ll see a lot on this list: Trucks. With all other half-ton trucks getting all-new models in the past year or so, the Tundra is quite behind and Toyota knows this. Toyota is gearing up for a huge product offensive, and the Tundra will definitely be part of that.
Consumer Reports’ brand report card is an important resource for anyone shopping for a new car. Using their data, the publication ranks automakers to help consumers make more informed buying decisions.
Seeing as the Ford F-150 is one of the best selling vehicles in North America period, it’s no surprise that the automaker’s smaller Ranger garnered a lot of interest when it debuted earlier this year.
The RAV4 is a huge seller for Toyota and in the marketplace as a whole, so it’s a big deal with a new model comes out. With dramatically different looks and more features than ever, the RAV4 certainly got a lot of attention from AutoGuide.com readers.

It’s always interesting when a smaller volume automaker makes it into a list of most popular stories. The CX-9 got a few nice updates this year, including a retuned suspension and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
It’s always big news when a new half-ton truck debuts and Chevy started the year off strong by releasing its all-new Silverado. The big news with this truck was that it lost a bunch of weight and also added a diesel engine option.
Ford announced a diesel F-150 in 2017 but didn’t unveil any engine specs until about a year later, and it’s clear that people were excited about it. Judging by this and the Chevy stove above, it’s clear the interest in diesel half-tons is strong. Make sure to check out our review of the Power Stroke F-150 here.
Ya’ll are hyped about the new Bronco! We get it! We can’t wait for Ford’s revived SUV to debut in all its boxy goodness. After much speculation, Ford finally announced in 2018 that the Bronco will be making a return as a real Jeep Wrangler competitor.
Although the Challenger is the oldest muscle car from the holy trinity and one of the oldest cars on sale today, people still seem to go crazy whenever there is Challenger news, especially if it’s Hellcat-related. In the end, we didn’t see a Hellcat Drag Pack debut yet, but Dodge did come out with the Redeye, which has 797 hp.
CVTs are becoming more and more common and although they used to get a lot of hate, these days, they’re more refined than ever. They’re designed to be more fuel efficient than traditional automatics, but our readers wanted to know if they’re actually reliable. Click the link to see what we found.
