Maserati Levante Helps Set a New Guinness World Record
Jamie Barrow has broken his own Guinness World Record with help from the Maserati Levante.
Known as Britain’s fastest snowboard, Jamie Barrow and the Maserati Levante now hold the Guinness World Record for fastest speed on a snowboard being towed by a vehicle. Barrow previously broke the same record in February 2016 when he reached a speed of 62.06 mph (99.87 km/h), but felt he could go even faster with better conditions. So Barrow set off on the frozen lake of St. Moritz with the Maserati Levante leading the way, a much faster and more powerful vehicle than the Mitsubishi ASX used on his last record-setting run.

The Levante was fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires, special studded tires that have 474 studs per tire and are 0.15 inch (4mm) long for the best possible grip on the frozen lake. The very first out run recorded on February 19, 2018 was 94.18 mph (151.57 km/h) and due to the Guinness World Record stipulation, a return run was required. That run was recorded at 91.79 mph (147.72 km/h). The two runs were then averaged to give the final Guinness World Record speed of 92.99 mph (149.65 km/h).
