Toyota Embraces SEMA and Winter With Wild New Snowhunter Concepts
Every year at the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association show, Toyota does what most folks do in Vegas – they get a little wild.
This year the big T is heading to the 2026 SEMA Show with a simple premise: what if you took every body-on-frame truck and SUV in the lineup and prepped them for deep backcountry snow?
The result is the Snowhunter concept family. Developed with leadership from Toyota’s CALTY Design Research team in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the lineup spans five core models: the Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, and Sequoia.
Rather than treating each vehicle as an isolated project, Toyota applied a consistent design theme across the board. Every model gets a custom Snowhunter camouflage wrap, badging, gloss-black accents, Rigid auxiliary lighting, lift components from TRD and Toyota Genuine Parts, and white powder-coated snow tracks replacing traditional wheels and tires.
Here is how the individual builds break down.
Tundra Snowhunter Concept
Positioned as a heavy-duty mobile basecamp, the full-size Tundra concept focuses on gear management and cargo accessibility. It features TRD rear billet control arms, Predator steps, and extra trail lighting. The primary detail here is the CALTY-designed TrailLift Pro Rack System Concept installed in the truck bed. The articulating top section of the rack lowers mechanically, making it easier to load heavier gear like kayaks, canoes, or winter equipment without having to hoist them over the bedsides.
Tacoma Snowhunter Concept
The midsize Tacoma takes a tighter, trail-oriented approach meant for narrower passes. Along with its snow tracks, the Tacoma is set up for self-supported travel with a full-length bed rack featuring MOLLE side panels, a roof rack, an integrated awning, extra cargo boxes, bed lighting, and recovery gear.
4Runner Snowhunter Concept
Built around extended backcountry trips, the 4Runner concept prioritizes exterior protection and overhead storage. The setup includes Toyota Genuine rock rails, a Prinsu roof rack equipped with side accessory panels, and a Thule Pulse 2 cargo box mounted up top.
Land Cruiser Snowhunter Concept
The Land Cruiser concept applies the winter treatment to Toyota's midsize off-roader. Underbody protection comes courtesy of Toyota Genuine rock rails and skid plates. Up top, it carries a Prinsu roof rack with accessory panels and a Thule SnowPack ski rack designed specifically for carrying gear to unplowed terrain.
Sequoia Snowhunter Concept
Rounding out the family is the three-row Sequoia, which combines full-size cabin capacity with winter utility. It gets a TRD front skid plate, Toyota Genuine cast aluminum running boards, a Prinsu roof rack with accessory panels, and a Thule Pulse 2 cargo box.
As with most SEMA show cars, Toyota notes these builds are special project prototypes and in no way are designed to showcase anything close to a future production vehicle. They feature aftermarket components and custom fabrications that are not available directly from dealers, may void standard warranties, and are certainly not street-legal.
