New Chevy Camaro Expected To Debut With Four Doors As A 2029 Model
The Chevrolet Camaro nameplate is reportedly preparing for a return, but with significant changes to its traditional form factor.
According to a new report, the next-generation muscle car is now expected to launch in the 2029 model year, a year later than the originally rumored 2028 debut. The timeline changes shouldn't change any of the core mechanical elements—including a V8 engine, rear-wheel drive, and a manual transmission.
Reports from GM Authority claim the standard Camaro will morph into a four-door sedan with overall exterior dimensions similar to the retired Chevy SS or midsize Malibu. While it wouldn't be the traditional form purists expect, it would at least keep the name alive while preserving rear-wheel-drive proportions.
The incoming Camaro will ride on an updated evolution of General Motors' Alpha 2 rear-wheel-drive architecture. The chassis will be shared with GM's other premium rear-drive offerings, including the confirmed Cadillac CT5 successor and a rumored Buick sedan. Assembly of the Camaro will return to GM's Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan, which previously produced the two-door, sixth-gen model.
While official engine specifications remain unconfirmed, a dedicated high-performance variant is certainly expected. The Camaro is likely to make use of GM's new sixth-generation Small Block V8 engine family, which has already been confirmed for the Corvette, Chevrolet Silverado, and GMC Sierra.

With the Boomers loosing interest in muscle cars the latest generation is into four doors, much like PU's. So it was inevitable, at least it will be V8 with a manual, although the take on manuals will be minimal, I'd be surprised if it is available. Camaros were never meant to be sedans, the new model name should be something simple but relevant like "SS".
just as a small electric SUV is not a mustang no matter what ford slaps on it, a 4 door sedan is not a Camaro.
