We've been waiting 9 years. What's another two weeks.

Tesla has announced a brief postponement for the official debut of its next-generation Roadster. Originally slated for an outdoor launch on October 1st, the event has now been pushed back to October 15 due to adverse weather forecasts.

In an official update posted to social media, the automaker explained the decision:

"We've been tracking the weather closely with local meteorologists, but given the severe conditions predicted & because this event can only be held outdoors, we've made the difficult decision to reschedule. New date is October 15. Additional details to follow."

A Long-Awaited Milestone

The two-week delay comes at the tail end of one of the longest development cycles in modern automotive history.

First unveiled as a surprise prototype alongside the Tesla Semi back in November 2017, the second-generation Roadster was originally targeted for a 2020 release. Over the subsequent years, production timelines shifted multiple times as Tesla prioritized mass-market vehicles like the Model 3 and Model Y, navigated global supply chain bottlenecks, and continued engineering work on the flagship hypercar.

Because the launch event involves high-speed outdoor demonstrations to showcase the EV's extreme acceleration and performance specs, clear track conditions are essential for safety and optimal performance. Reservation holders and enthusiast drivers will now have to wait until October 15 to see the final production-ready vehicle in action.

I would never buy any vehicle with the muskrat taint. You will never get that disgusting smell out.
