Lexus Recalls Over 68,000 NX Crossovers For Instrument Cluster Glitch
Toyota is recalling 68,356 Lexus NX crossovers in the United States due to an instrument panel error that can leave critical warning lights blank.
The campaign covers select 2022–2024 model-year Lexus NX250, NX350, NX350 Hybrid, and NX450h+ plug-in hybrid vehicles. Because the digital cluster can fail to illuminate required warning icons, the affected vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 101, "Control and Displays."
Startup Error Blanks Out Oil, Temperature, and Charging Warnings
According to recall documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the affected crossovers feature a 7-inch digital combination meter display that manages driving data, system statuses, and telltale warning symbols.
During vehicle startup, an initialization error can cause portions of the 7-inch screen to boot up completely blank. When this initialization glitch occurs, federally mandated warning telltales—specifically the indicators for low engine oil pressure, high engine coolant temperature, and electrical charging system faults—will fail to appear even if a mechanical malfunction arises.
If a driver is unable to see active warnings for overheating or collapsing oil pressure, they may continue operating the vehicle until severe mechanical breakdown occurs, elevating the risk of stalling or a crash in traffic.
Affected Models and Production Timeline
The recall includes gasoline, traditional hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variants produced for North America:
- 2022–2024 Lexus NX250
- 2022–2024 Lexus NX350
- 2022–2024 Lexus NX350h
- 2022–2024 Lexus NX450h+
The Fix and Owner Notification Schedule
To resolve the noncompliance, Lexus dealers will install updated combination meter software into affected vehicles free of charge.
Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed beginning December 7, 2026. Owners seeking more information can contact Toyota/Lexus customer service at 1-800-331-4331, referencing internal manufacturer recall number 26LA10.
