Stellantis Recalls Nearly A Million Vehicles For Software Bug

Stellantis is issuing a massive recall for nearly one million late-model vehicles over an infotainment software bug that can prevent the backup camera feed from displaying on the dashboard screen.

The safety campaign impacts roughly 955,000 passenger vehicles and commercial vans globally, with 848,000 located in the United States and another 107,000 spread across Canada, Mexico, and international markets. The root cause lies within internal radio system code that intermittently fails to activate the rear camera feed when shifting into reverse.

Affected Models

The bug impacts a wide variety of 2026 and 2027 model-year vehicles across four core Stellantis brands:

• Chrysler: Pacifica, Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid, and Voyager
• Dodge: Charger
• Jeep: Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer, and Wrangler
• Ram: 1500, 2500, and ProMaster commercial vans

Over-the-Air Repair and Driver Guidance

Unlike traditional mechanical recalls, owners will not need to bring their vehicles to a dealership service department for hardware repairs. Stellantis is resolving the issue via a free over-the-air (OTA) software patch. Drivers will see a prompt on their central infotainment screen once the update is available to download and install automatically.

Stellantis confirmed there are no reports of collisions or injuries related to the glitch. However, if the backup display goes dark, the automaker advises drivers to rely on their traditional interior rear-view and exterior side mirrors while reversing.
