Alfa Romeo Completes Development Of 33 Stradale

Alfa Romeo is putting its ultra-limited 33 Stradale through rigorous testing at the Nardò Ring, one of the fastest automotive test tracks in the world.


The Italian automaker is verifying key aspects of the supercar, including its handling, reliability, and top speed of 207 mph. Testing has been ongoing at Alfa Romeo’s Balocco Proving Ground in Vercelli, Italy, a track that has been used to develop Alfa Romeo's since 1962.


The 33 Stradale, which is priced at $1.85 million, features a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 620 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Alfa's engineers started the testing at more moderate speeds, focusing on fine-tuning the steering, brakes, and suspension, and dialed in the final calibration of the car’s Track mode performance.

The track's design, with its multiple levels of banking, allows for testing at varying speeds without the need for steering, making it ideal for testing at speeds over 200 mph. Alfa says its engineers ran the 33 Stradale at full throttle, confirming its sub-three-second 0-60 mph time and top speed. The carbon-ceramic brakes with brake-by-wire technology were also validated.

Inside, the 33 Stradale features an environmentally conscious interior, with leather sourced from Poltrona Frau, which uses a sustainable tanning process. The leather is treated with tannins from olive wastewater, avoiding the harmful chromium chemicals typically used in leather production. This process also reduces water consumption by 10% and supports carbon-reduction projects to offset emissions from manufacturing.


The 33 Stradale will be a rare model, with only 33 units being produced. Alfa Romeo plans to deliver the first of these supercars in December.
