Forget The Luce: This Ferrari-Swapped Porsche 911 is Glorious
Porsche restomods might be the hot topic of the last few years, but do you know what's even better? An old 911 with a Ferrari V8 crammed into its nether regions. Forget the flat-6; a Maserati F136 V8 was always destined to live in the back of the 978 Porsche 911 SC, and that match-made-in-heaven is exactly what Jimmy Oakes, Eneos, and Formula Drift have in common.
Eneos, not to be confused with Ineos (the oil company and Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 team sponsor) is out to create mayhem. Their sponsor initiative with Jimmy Oakes and Formula Drift have made for vehicular chaos, the likes of which have manifested in an unsuspecting Porsche 911 that has somehow become the workings of enthusiasts with a pension for mayhem and a checkbook to accommodate such.
Instead of a 3.0-liter flat-six cylinder engine under the "hood," the car here has a naturally-aspirated 400-hp Ferrari/Maserati F136 flat-plane crank V8 from a 2007 Maserati Quattroporte. Like we said, utter masochism in machinery. EP9 Autosport prepared the 911 for said transplant, after which Wired by Trap took the helm and did custom electrical fabrication.
With custom fabrication becoming the main story of the build, Jimmy and Co turned to countless partners to make the whole ordeal happen and function without issue. The front tub was modified, the rear suspension given added bracing, and so on. With a deadline in sight, they turned to local Connecticut-based partners to make the magic happen.
And so, the stars aligned; Jimmy Oakes and Eneos have created a contraption that is viable, functional, and happy to be hammered on. The V8-powered 911 is due to be shown at DRIFT Connecticut at the Eneos booth at Stafford Motor Speedway from June 18-20, 2026.
