GM Recalls 2014 Cruze and Verano for Rupturing Air Bags

General Motors is recalling 2,099 Buick Verano and Chevrolet Cruze vehicles from the 2014 model year. The issue has to do with the roof-rail air bags located above the headliner. Both the right and left side inflators may rupture at the inflator weld joint, which is less than ideal.

Buick and Chevrolet dealers will replace the air bag modules on the 2,099 affected cars, free of charge. For those owners with affected units, expect a notification to be mailed by December 22, 2025.

While on the topic of the Verano, let's take a moment to appreciate the last manual transmission Buick sold in North America. With traditional Buick styling, the front-wheel drive compact Verano Turbo packed 250 hp and a 6-speed manual transmission. Not the sportiest car of its era, it was still a potent little sedan with more driving fun attached than expected in a Buick.
