Ridiculously Loud Dodge Charger Daytona Recalled for Being Too Quiet
Yes, you read that right. The all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona, noted for its controversial, and very loud Fratzonic exhaust system, is being recalled for being too quiet. In fairness this has nothing to do with the chambered speaker Fratzonic system that can emit an ear piercing 126 decibels.
The recall actually pertains to the safety system on EVs that emits a forward noise, alerting pedestrians of their movement on the road. That spaceship-like whoo, whirl, whoo, whirl noise.
As part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration campaign number 25V389000, Dodge is recalling a specific group of 2024-2025 Dodge Charger vehicles. The amplifier in charge of producing the safety sound through the speaker could be missing software. This means it won’t work to alert pedestrians of the big American coupe’s approach. The specific rule that the Charger is failing to comply is the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 141, "Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid Electric Vehicles."
To fix the issue, Dodge will have the brand’s dealers investigate the amplifier software and update as necessary free of charge. Those affected by the recall will get notification from Dodge soon. In the meantime, may we suggest keeping the Fratzonic in track mode to ensure everyone within a 1 mile radius is aware of the car’s presence?
