Live in Michigan? Own an ATV or UTV? Thinking about registering said vehicle for use on the state's public trails but not quite sue you want to pull the trigger just yet? You're in luck: This August 14th-15th, the state of Michigan is offering access to all 4,000 miles of its trails for the low price of free.

Normally, the state's Recreation Passport costs $15 for in-state registrations and $24 for a two-day pass for those who are registered out-of-state. Those are comparative bargains by ATV/UTV registration standards, but the savings is still good for a few gallons of gas in the tank of your quad or side-by-side.

Powersports tourism is becoming a bigger industry, and Michigan is giving away access to its trails for free on Friday, August 14th and Saturday, August 15th of this year. The only catch is that you actually need to trek to Michigan to take advantage of this deal; otherwise, just make sure you know about the legality of what machine can be ridden where, and what ages are allowed to pilot what machines. That info can be found on the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) website.
