McLaren 750S JC96 is '90s Rad and a Tribute for Japan

McLaren has introduced a Japan-only limited-edition of the 750S supercar, called the JC96, that’s a tribute to the McLaren F1 GTR race cars that won the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC) in 1996.
JGTC is what the Super GT series was called in the 1990s and very early 2000s. It’s one of the most iconic racing series in the world, and easily Japan’s most popular motorsports competition. The 1996 race year was a rarity as the top rung of the series, GT500, was won by a foreign automaker, McLaren, campaigned by Team Goh.
McLaren 750S JC96: All the Details
McLaren 750S JT96
The brand will only be making 61 cars, a number chosen as it was the race number on the championship winning car. Available only in Japan, the car has a unique paint job that is a homage to the livery of the Team Goh F1 GTRs that competed in that 1996 JGTC season. Key to the exterior design is a ‘Tiger Stripe’ that’s available in Memphis Red, Titanium Silver, Ice White and Graphite Grey.
Other highlights include ultra-lightweight 15-spoke forged alloy wheels, some F1 GTR inspired interior features, gold brake calipers, and McLaren’s High Downforce Kit (HDK). In fact, since the special edition 750S can be had a coupe or spider (convertible), this is the first time the HDK is available on an open-top McLaren.
“The 750S JC96 is our love letter to McLaren in Japan. Our Japanese clients demand track-inspired performance but without compromising on the tailor-made personalisation and attention to detail that truly makes a McLaren their McLaren. The 750S JC96 blends these demands perfectly, while offering for the first time the enhanced track performance of the MSO HDK with the sensations delivered by a benchmark beating convertible supercar for those who opt for a 750S JC96 Spider.” said Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer, Chief Commercial Officer, McLaren Automotive
