Genesis Quietly Kills Off Superbly Quiet Electrified G80

There was no fanfare, no big announcement, not even a press release. One day it was on the manufacturer’s website and the next day it was not. The Genesis Electrified G80 is officially dead.

For quite a while the 2024 Electrified G80 remained on the brand’s Canadian and American websites, but no 2025 ever arrived. We’re at the point now where many manufacturers are releasing 2026 model year vehicles, so it seemed curious a 2024 model year car was still on sale.

Well, we're curious no more as the car has been removed and it ain’t coming back.

Powered by a pair of electric motors, the Electrified G80 wasn’t the quickest of EVs, developing 365 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Nor did it have one of the longer ranges, officially rated at 282 miles (454 km). But it was one of the smoothest rides and arguably the best gas to EV platform conversions of any sedan on the market.

Alas, Genesis sold fewer than 2,000 examples over the past two years in the United States and in 2024 only moved a couple hundred units.

Pour one out for a quiet, posh, executive sedan that couldn’t find an audience.
