**Update - we've heard back from Nissan Canada and updated the article accordingly**

What was the lowest price new car on sale in America is now dead. In a report published by The Drive, Nissan USA confirmed the Versa will not live on into the 2026 model year.

“In line with Nissan’s product strategy, the Nissan Versa ended production in December 2025 for the U.S. market,” said Nissan Senior Product Communications Manager Josh Clifton “Nissan remains committed to offering affordable and stylish vehicles in the sedan segment with models like Sentra and Altima, while also offering strong value in the compact SUV segment with the Kicks.”

Earlier this week we were surprised to see the Altima live on for another year as we guessed it would be the next sedan to go in a long line of family cars disappearing from our market. Instead, it was the most affordable sedan in the United States that fell victim to North America’s love affair with SUVs. Lately, it feels like another car dies daily. We need to stop this trend.

We’ve reached out to Nissan Canada and they have confirmed the Versa is also being put to pasture up there as well.
