Ford has appointed former Lincoln vice president and Ford chief marketing officer Kumar Galhotra as the head of Ford North America following the departure of Raj Nair on Thursday.

Galhotra, who will move into his new role on March 1st, previously served as the VP of Lincoln and adopted the role of chief marketing officer for Ford in November 2017. Moving into Galhotra’s position as Lincoln VP and Ford CMO will be Joy Falotico, who previously served as CEO of Ford Credit. Faltoico, 50, will continue to serve as the chairman of Ford Credit going forward.

“Kumar is an incredibly talented executive with a special feel for product and brand. He is also a seasoned leader who knows how to drive a business transformation,” said Jim Farley, Ford’s president of global markets. “Kumar is the right person to lead our North American business to new levels of operational fitness, product and brand excellence, and profitability.”

Nair was ousted from his role due to allegations of “inappropriate behavior.” It’s not yet clear what led to his departure, however.

Raj Nair happens to be an Indian sub-continental name. Kumar Galhotra is too. I know there are plenty of Indians in the automotive industry, but this is quite the coincidence. -Any specific achievements as Lincoln VP and Ford CMO?
