2016 BMW 7 Series Recalled for Airbag Issue
The all-new 2016 BMW 7 Series is already being recalled.
According to the German automaker, the luxury flagship sedan is being recalled due to a potential airbag deployment issue, noting that airbags in 26,000 cars produced before December 1, 2015 may have a defective airbag control module. BMW is unaware of any faulty deployments related to the issue.
To date, 47,000 new 7 Series have been produced and a BMW spokesman told Automotive News that the recall “is purely a precautionary measure.” The recall is also not related to the massive Takata airbag recall, as the faulty module was supplied by Continental AG.

The recall will affect 6,110 vehicles in the U.S. and include the 740Li, 750Li and 750 Lxi models. In Germany, 2,600 units will be recalled while another 4,700 are in China.
Those affected by the recall in the U.S. will receive letters in May and dealerships will fix the issue free of charge.
