LaFerrari Affected by Two Separate Recalls
Some LaFerrari owners are going to have to take a trip to the dealership.
Ferrari North America is recalling 85 LaFerrars in two separate recalls, one for a possible headrest defect while the other recall affects the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). In the first recall, the affected LaFerrari exotics were manufactured from May 15, 2014 to March 4, 2015 and are equipped with the L32 seats as standard for the passenger seat and as optional equipment for the driver seat. According to the Italian automaker, the headrests of L32 seats may not absorb the required amount of energy in a crash, and as a result, do not comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 202a, “Head Restraints.”

The other recall is for LaFerraris manufactured over the same time period as the first recall, and involves the wrong message being displayed when there’s low tire pressure. Instead of showing “Low Tyre Pressure-Do Not Proceed,” the warning message will say “Low Tyre Pressure-Max speed 50 mph.” The incorrect warning message fails to comply with the requirements of FMVSS number 138, “Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems.”
Affected owners will be contacted for both recalls and will either have their headrests replaced free of charge, have their TPMS software updated to give the correct reading, or both.
