These Are The 10 Best Brands For Initial Vehicle Quality
J.D. Power has released the results of its 2026 U.S. Initial Quality Study, with Porsche once again finishing as the highest-ranked brand overall and Ford taking the top spot among mainstream automakers.
The study measures problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 90 days of ownership. A lower score indicates fewer reported issues and higher initial quality.
The annual J.D. Power Initial Quality Study remains one of the industry's most closely watched quality benchmarks, evaluating new vehicle owners' experiences during their first three months of ownership across a wide range of categories, including infotainment, controls, powertrain, and build quality. The data was collected from June 2025 through May 2026.

With 173 problems per 100 vehicles in the first 90 days of ownership, Land Rover just beats out the study average of 175 problems.
