Top 10 Most Affordable Crossovers and SUVs
New vehicles are expensive today, especially crossovers and SUVs. Gone are the days of picking up a shiny new high-riding family utility vehicle for less than $20,000. But not all crossovers and SUVs are prohibitively pricey. There are plenty of choices under the $30,000 mark. In fact, the 10 lowest priced choices on this list start under $27,000 after destination charges.
We do understand that some of the options below are questionable when it comes to being a true SUV or crossover. But all of them do sit higher than a regular hatchback car and are positioned as crossovers or SUVs by their respective manufacturers. So, if you’re looking for a small, high riding vehicle with a new car warranty at the lowest possible price, read on.

2025 Mazda CX-30 2.5 S: $26,690
Starting the list is the only vehicle here to come standard with all-wheel drive. Although some of the vehicles below can still have a lower price when all-wheel drive is added, the Mazda CX-30 only comes that way. It’s also arguably the most stylish vehicle on this list. It also includes a 191 hp engine, 16-inch alloy wheels, push button start, 8.8-inch infotainment screen, and a ton of standard safety features.
2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2.0 S: $26,230
Next up is the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, known as the RVR in Canada. The entry-level 2.0 S trim comes with front-wheel drive and some fancy features like rain sensing wipers. It also includes a lot of standard safety features and a huge 10-year warranty.
2025 Toyota Corolla Cross L: $25,585
For the eighth most affordable crossover SUV, we head back to Japan for the Toyota Corolla Cross L. Like the Outlander Sport, the Corolla Cross comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, but it makes a good deal more power in the Toyota; 169 hp. The Corolla Cross may be missing some of the fancier features found in others on this list, but it does have all the basic necessities, a ton of safety equipment standard, and of course Toyota’s reputation.
2025 Buick Envista Preferred: $25,195
Finding a Buick on this list may seem odd as the American brand is usually a bit more premium than regular mainstream manufacturers. The small Envista in entry-level Preferred trim does slot in as the seventh most affordable crossover SUV and comes with a lot of standard equipment. An 11-inch infotainment screen, 17-inch alloy wheels, a fully digital driver’s information center, remote start and more. It’s small turbocharged three-cylinder engine is paired to a regular six-speed automatic transmission.
2026 Kia Seltos LX: $25,135
Kia’s first entry on our list is the small Seltos SUV in entry-level, LX front-wheel drive guise. This is one of the more spacious vehicles on our list. It includes a lot of equipment found in virtually every vehicle here as well, like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, push-button start, LED lighting, and a ton of standard safety equipment. Like the Buick Envista, the Seltos also includes 17-inch alloy wheels.
2025 Nissan Kicks S: $23,220
We’ve hit the halfway point on our list with the Nissan Kicks S. This is the all-new second-generation Kicks that’s larger, more powerful, and funkier styled. In the entry level S front-wheel drive, standard equipment includes a lot of safety equipment, but not much else outside of the necessities. As we approach the lower end of this list, the vehicles will lack as many features as those positioned higher, but do offer a lower price.
2025 Nissan Kicks Play S: $22,910
Hey, it’s déjà vu! The Nissan Kicks makes a second appearance on our list, but this is a different model, called the Kicks Play. It’s basically the first-generation Kicks still being sold at a slightly lower price for those who may find the new model’s styling a bit too radical. To hammer home the value proposition, the Kicks Play only comes as the entry-level S model. Much like its newer sibling, the older Kicks in S trim only has the basic necessities, along with a good chunk of safety gear.
2025 Kia Soul LX: $21,935
The Nissan Kicks Play was the first vehicle on this list to only be available with front-wheel drive, but it’s not the last. In fact, every vehicle from here on out only comes with front-wheel drive, which may raise doubts about their crossover SUV status. Regardless, the Kia Soul does sit quite upright and in LX trim still comes lightly optioned with features like a fully digital driver’s information center, 8-inch infotainment screen, and a six-speaker sound system. The Soul also comes with a robust 10-year warranty.
2025 Chevrolet Trax LS: $21,895
Coming in second place on our list is the mechanical twin to the Buick Envista, the Chevrolet Trax. Powered by the same three-cylinder turbocharged engine paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, the Trax includes Wi-Fi hotspot capability, an 8-inch infotainment system, a small digital driver’s information center, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a good deal of standard safety systems.
2025 Hyundai Venue SE: $21,695
Taking top spot on our list, just undercutting the Kia Soul and Chevrolet Trax, is the Hyundai Venue. One of the smallest vehicles, the 121 hp Venue make look a bit disproportionate on its little 15-inch wheels, but it includes a ton of value. There is an 8.0-inch touchscreen, USB charging ports, and a good amount of safety equipment. Owners will have to forgo push button start though and use an old-school key.
