The 5 Most Popular Electric Vehicles In America
Tesla dominates the EV market here in the United States, so it’s no surprise that the majority of used electric vehicle listings are also Tesla products. In fact, according to iSeeCars.com, four of the top 10 most popular used cars in America in 2024 came from the American EV pioneer. Electric cars from Ford and Chevrolet also land in the top 10, leaving just three spots to automakers from outside the United States.

1. Tesla Model 3
The Tesla Model 3 lands in first place on the list of the most popular used electric vehicles in America. Nearly 30% of all used EVs listed in 2024 were Model 3 sedans. Seeing so many used Model 3s makes sense when you consider it’s been on the market since 2017 and has been either first or second in sales over the duration of its existence.
2. Tesla Model Y
In second place sits the Tesla Model Y with exactly 15% of the total used sales last year. Again, the Tesla Model Y, which was released for the 2020 model year, has been the best-selling new EV in America for the last few years with more than 300,000 sold on the new-car market in 2023 and 2024. With so many roaming American roads, it’s only natural there’d be a large number of them on the used market, too.
3. Chevrolet Bolt EV
Chevrolet takes third place with its Bolt EV. According to iSeeCars.com, 7% of all used EVs last year were Chevy Bolt hatchbacks. As you’ll see a few slides from now, these numbers only include the standard Bolt, not its slightly larger sibling.
4. Ford Mustang Mach-E
The Ford Mustang Mach-E is the fourth-best-selling used electric vehicle in America. iSeeCars.com pegs Ford’s most popular EV’s used market share at 4.4%. The Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck sits in 15th place, making it the most popular used electric truck.
5. Chevrolet Bolt EUV
Rounding out the top 5 most popular used EVs in America is the Chevrolet Bolt EUV with 4% of the market. The regular Bolt has been in production since the 2017 model year, while the slightly larger EUV version didn’t hit the showroom floor until 2022.
The remainder of the top 10 includes the Nissan Leaf (6th), Tesla Model X (7th), Tesla Model S (8th), Volkswagen ID.4 (9th) and Porsche Taycan (10th). The Hyundai Kona Electric is the first Korean EV on the list in 11th. The Polestar 2 sits in 13th, well ahead of the Volvo XC40 Recharge with which it shares its parent company, China’s Geely.
