Ferrari Banned These Celebrities From Owning Their Cars
It’s one of the most exclusive clubs in the automotive world—and some stars just couldn’t play by the rules.
Ferrari ownership isn’t just about money. It’s about image, respect for the badge, and playing by Maranello’s secretive rulebook.
Deadmau5
The EDM artist turned heads when he plastered a Nyan Cat wrap on his 458 Spider, complete with custom “Purrari” badges and floor mats. Ferrari’s legal team was less than amused, sending a cease-and-desist that effectively ended his time with the brand. Photo: Reddit
Chris Harris
Auto journalist and Top Gear host Chris Harris clashed with Ferrari after accusing the company of gaming magazine tests by supplying hand-prepped cars. He got iced out of press fleets—but eventually found his way back after saying the right things. Photo: Top Gear
Tyga
In 2016, the rapper had his 458 Spider and other exotics repossessed for non-payment, then faced lawsuits over nearly $1.3 million owed on various supercars. While Ferrari never confirmed it, the brand likely put Tyga on the do-not-sell list, although he did reportedly "purchase" a Ferrari LaFerrari in 2019. Photo: Instagram
Preston Henn
He owned one of the world’s most valuable Ferraris, but that didn’t get him approved for a LaFerrari Aperta. Henn sent a letter and a $1 million check to the FCA and Ferrari CEO Sergio Marchionne as a down payment on the Aperta. Sergio promptly returned the cheque. The wealthy Henn took this as rejection, and decided to get his lawyers involved and sue Ferrari "for reputational injury and the mortification caused by declaring him to be not qualified to purchase a LaFerrari Aperta." Justin Bieber
Bieber took his pristine white 458 Italia and wrapped it in electric blue, then reportedly tried to auction it off without telling Ferrari. That’s a no-no in Maranello’s code of conduct, which restricts resale without permission in the first year. Ferrari clarified that Justin Bieber will not have access to purchase exclusive models and special editions from Ferrari, but can still purchase regular series production models. 50 Cent
When his Ferrari 488 had a dead battery, the rapper didn’t just call a tow truck—he called out Ferrari to millions of fans, labeling it a “f***ing lemon” and threatening to switch to a Smart car. That definitely didn't sit well with Maranello.
