These Wagons Are Still Hauling The Mail For Shoppers
The family wagon begat the family sedan. The family sedan begat the crossover. And these days, there are hardly any wagons or sedans left in America.
Still, a few automakers sell long-roof, low-slung vehicles in America, and these were the most-researched models of June.

1) Subaru Impreza
The Subaru Impreza may be the closest thing to an actual wagon that you’ll see on this list, even if we’d consider it more of a hatchback. That’s because, with the rise in popularity of the crossover segment, most automakers have morphed their station wagons (or estates in Europe) into something somewhere in between a wagon and a utility vehicle. Ironically, the Subaru Outback, based on the Legacy sedan, was a pioneer in the transformation.
2) Audi A4 Allroad
The Audi A4 Allroad is a great example of a wagon disguised as a crossover. It doesn’t have the ground clearance to really go very far off the beaten path, but it does have some body cladding and aggressive styling to make it look like it could. Identity crisis aside, the A4 Allroad is a nice wagon-shaped German luxury car that has plenty to offer buyers interested in something sportier and more efficient than most similarly sized crossovers.
3) Volvo V60 Cross Country
Volvo was also an early player in the wagon-turned-crossover segment with its Cross Country or XC models. In the case of the V60 Cross Country, which lands in third place on the most-researched wagon list, this wagon is based on the S60 sedan but has a bit more ground clearance and a bit of body cladding to offer at least a little protection in the dirt and mud.
4) Audi A6 Allroad
The Audi A6 Allroad is, as its name implies, based on the Audi A6 sedan. And, as is the case with the A4 Allroad we already saw on this list, the A6 Allroad is targeted at drivers who want all-weather capability but don’t need a utility vehicle with chunky off-road tires and a ton of ground clearance.
5) Volvo V90 Cross Country
And finally we come to the Volvo V90 Cross Country in fifth place on the most-researched wagons list. If you’re sensing a pattern here, you’re on target. The second Cross Country, like the two Allroads we’ve already seen on the list, has a traditional long-roof wagon shape and all-wheel drive. The V90 Cross Country is larger than the V60 Cross Country and has a more luxurious interior.
