The all-new 2017 Ford Super Duty will get you further on a single tank of fuel.

Ford has announced the F-Series Super Duty gets a 48-gallon (181-liter) fuel tank on long-box Crew Cab configuration for both gasoline and diesel variants, which is the largest available in the heavy-duty pickup truck segment. To compare, the 2016 Ford Super Duty diesel had a 37.5-gallon (142-liter) tank, while the gas-equipped truck last year had a 35-gallon (132-liter) tank.

Along with improved fuel economy thanks to the use of lightweight, high-strength aluminum just like the Ford F-150, the all-new Super Duty promises to deliver significantly better range than its predecessor. In addition, Power Stroke-equipped Super Duty models have a larger-capacity diesel exhaust fluid tank, up 2.5 gallons (9.5 liters) from the 2016 model to 7.5 gallons (28.4 liters) on the 2017 model. The automaker also equipped it with an improved fuel filter and water separator filter, allowing for longer change intervals than before.

“We want to give our customers a more productive tool for getting the most out of their trucks,” said Brian Rathsburg, Super Duty marketing manager. “This means less downtime at the fuel pump and performing routine maintenance, and more time on the job.”

The all-new Ford Super Duty arrives this fall and official fuel economy figures should be announced shortly.

48 gallon tank is an excellent idea. you never know when you will need that extra range. Just yesterday; i found myself having to drive my vehicle 360 miles on a single tank of gas.
