Jeep Heads Back to the Park; the Jurassic Park
In 1993, the Jeep Wrangler became an iconic fixture in the Jurassic Park franchise. The original movie had the classic scene of Dr. Ian Malcom riding in the back of a park-specific Wrangler, trying to outrun one unhappy Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The brand is launching an advertising campaign that pits a modern Jeep Wrangler being adventure-tested in the wild.
After a Velociraptor bites the head off a crash-test dummy, a reluctant drive roars the Jeep past Tyrannosaurus Rex, Spinosaurus, Compsognathus, Titanosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus and a baby Aquilops.
Jeep is quick to point out this spot features seven dinosaur species, the most ever in a Jurassic Park Jeep ad spot. So, we guess that’s a thing.
If one looks closely at the lab scene, they may spot a future Jeep product lurking in the background.
The ad campaign will expand over the coming weeks, including a New York City Times Square billboard with a Quetzalcoatlus flying up above the Jeep Wrangler.
As well, a Jeep Wrangler will be parked at plenty of media stops around the world, including the U.S. premiere of the movie in New York on June 23.
The coolest bit of this news though may be the Jurassic badge for the Wrangler that will be available soon in limited supply to consumers.
