2026 Mustang FX Package: All The Details
Ford is tapping into the cultural cachet of the 1980s with a new retro-inspired appearance package for the 2026 Mustang.
Called the FX Package, this design-focused trim pays homage to the third-generation “Fox Body” Mustang.
The Mustang FX Package borrows from the visual language of the 1987–1993 models, with a number of references baked into both the exterior and interior design.
It’s not a performance upgrade, but rather a styling exercise aimed at Mustang buyers who remember—or grew up with—the Fox Body era and want a modern car that channels that aesthetic.
Oxford White badges and grille accents are used in place of chrome or black trim, with subtle nods including a reinterpreted GT wordmark stamped onto the center caps and rear glass.
The design team at Ford Vehicle Personalization even went so far as to patent the new font, which riffs on the blocky typography used on late-eighties GT models.
A 19-inch split five-spoke that builds on the current Mustang GT’s design, and a Performance Package variant that more explicitly calls back to factory wheels from the third generation.
Other visual details include Dark Carbonized Gray or Gloss Black grilles, depending on trim, and a set of white tail lamps that will also be offered through Ford Performance Parts as standalone accessories.
Seatbelt customization joins the list of personalization options, with three new colors: International Orange, Prime Blue, and Black with a red stripe.
Buyers can spec the FX Package on any GT Premium model, regardless of transmission or body style, with or without the Performance Package.
It adds no new performance equipment, but it serves a clear purpose—bridging Mustang’s present with one of its most fondly remembered past lives.
Inside, the FX Package incorporates seat materials meant to evoke the era’s cloth interiors, combining perforated black leather with white inserts that hint at the plaid fabrics once common on GT and LX models.
For coupes, Recaro sport seats are available with this same upholstery pattern, pairing retro cues with modern bolstering and safety.
The Fox Body Mustang defined the era’s performance car landscape and continues to attract a loyal following more than three decades after it left production.
