The Wagons Still Popular With Families
There once was a time when long-roof station wagons dominated suburban American driveways. Those days are long gone, and the wagons that are left are almost all disguised as crossovers. That includes most of the most-researched wagons from May 2025.

1. Subaru Impreza
The Subaru Impreza is the only kind of traditional wagon on our list. Some might consider it more of a hatchback, but since it boasts strong utility and doesn’t sacrifice space for the sake of style, we’re happy to include it on the list. If you’re looking for an Impreza dressed like a crossover, Subaru would love to introduce you to the Crosstrek.
2. Audi A4 Allroad
Well, here we go again. The second most-popular wagon in America last month was the Audi A4 Allroad. It’s shaped like a wagon, but with its plastic fender flares and rugged appearance, Audi fashions its Allroad line as something that blurs the line between traditional station wagons and crossovers.
3. Audi A6 Allroad
In third is the Audi A6 Allroad. As is the case with the smaller and cheaper A4 Allroad, the A6 variant sits halfway between wagon and crossover. For those keeping track, both the A4 and A6 Allroad sit in the same spot they did last month. Unlike last month, however, this will be the final Audi to earn a spot in the top five.
4. Volvo V60 Cross Country
Remember what we said about the Audi A4 Allroad? The same applies to the Volvo V60 Cross Country. Volvo, a brand synonymous with station wagons for decades (at least for those old enough to remember), positions the V60 Cross Country as a wagon that’s capable of some light off-road adventures.
5. Volvo V90 Cross Country
Oh, um … Remember what we said about the Audi A6 Allroad? The same applies to the Volvo V90 Crossover. It’s bigger, pricier, and more luxurious than its V60 Cross Country sibling, and the V90 Cross Country is similarly positioned as an off-road-friendly luxury family wagon.
