These 10 SUVs Are Surprisingly Good at Towing
One of the many reasons folks buy an SUV is for towing. Not necessarily heavy-duty towing, but more moderate recreational towing. Hauling things like boats, snowmobiles, travel trailers, car haulers, and the like. But not all SUVs are built the same. Some are designed to be more robust, ready to haul greater amounts of weight.
There are, of course, the obvious heavy hauling SUVs like the Chevrolet Tahoe, Nissan Armada, Ford Expedition, etc. But some SUVs pack large towing capacities for the size and/or market segment. Below we have listed 10 of these SUVs in alphabetical order.

Bentley Bentayga: 7,700 pounds
Just because one wants unrivalled opulence in a SUV doesn’t mean they can't tow as well. Prize winning horses, vintage pleasure craft, whatever, with 7,700 pounds of towing capacity, the Bentayga can haul a lot.
BMW X1: 3,700 pounds
Small SUVs are useless to tow with, right? Well, not all of them. The entry-level BMW X1 is rated to 3,700 pounds which is impressive as many vehicles this size only tow 1,500 pounds or not at all. So, with the X1, it's possible to take that small travel trailer or boat along with you.
Cadillac Escalade iQ: 8,000 pounds
Having an Escalade on this list might seem redundant, because it’s well known the large body-on-frame SUV can tow a whole lot. But we’re referring to the all-electric Cadillac Escalade iQ here. Despite a different platform, this EV luxury people hauler tows only 200 pounds less than its gasoline guzzling sibling.
Infiniti QX60: 6,000 pounds
The so-called mid-size three-row luxury SUV segment is a staple for many families. Being able to tow a moderate amount of weight is necessary and most competitors only haul 5,000 pounds. Although the QX60 is not the only SUV to do it, this posh people hauler can tow upwards of 6,000 pounds.
Lamborghini Urus: 7,000 pounds
One of the closest things to a SUV sports car, the Lamborghini Urus is still ready to haul a great deal of weight. Maybe it’s so owners can haul their Temerario track toys to the local circuit in an enclosed trailer.
Land Rover Discovery: 8,200 pounds
For the size of the Land Rover Discovery, the towing capacity is quite impressive. This isn’t a full-size SUV, but it can still tow like one. Land Rover customers must really like pulling large trailers around.
Mercedes-Benz GLE: 7,700 pounds
Maybe not as impressive as the Discovery above, the two-row Mercedes-Benz GLE can still tow more than a lot of its competition. Go camping in super-style with that new Mercedes-Benz towing a luxurious trailer.
Nissan Pathfinder: 6,000 pounds
Much like its posher sibling, the Infiniti QX60, the Nissan Pathfinder can tow more than many other options in its class. Even if you don’t plan to max out the 6,000 pounds, there’s added piece of mind knowing it can handle more.
Porsche Cayenne: 7,000 pounds
Another sibling of a SUV we already had on this list, the Porsche Cayenne can haul 7,000 pounds just like the Lamborghini Urus. In this case though, owners should be hauling a Porches 911 GT3 RS to the track of course.
Range Rover Evoque: 3,968 pounds
Like the BMW X1, the Range Rover Evoque can tow a surprising amount of weight. In fact, at nearly 4,000 pounds, it can tow more than the Bimmer, and we’d argue the Evoque is even less likely to tow this much due to that sleek styling.
