The 5 EVs People Are Most Interested In Right Now
The most popular electric car in America right now is the Tesla Model Y crossover. It’s been the most popular for the last few years, followed by its sedan-shaped sibling, the Tesla Model 3. But neither of those two Tesla models takes the title as the most-researched electric vehicle (to be fair, Tesla’s unique direct-to-consumer sales model impacts the number of people searching online).

1. Ford Mustang Mach-E
The Ford Mustang Mach-E was the most-researched electric vehicle in America in February of 2025, according to data provided exclusively to AutoGuide via AutoFinder.com — an automotive marketplace featuring over 3 million new and used vehicle listings, connecting consumers with top dealerships nationwide to easily find and secure the best deal on a car, truck or SUV. For what it’s worth, the Mach-E’s position in first place makes sense. It’s the best-selling non-Tesla EV in America.
2. Ford F-150 Lightning
Up next is the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup. Considering the popularity of Ford’s F-Series of trucks, it’s not surprising to see that the electrified F-150 is popular with those researching vehicles online. It’s the sixth most popular electric vehicle on the sales floor, which puts it one spot behind the wedged-wonder that is the Tesla Cybertruck.
3. Chevrolet Equinox EV
In third place on the most-researched EV list is the Chevrolet Equinox EV. Since this is a nearly new model, we don’t know exactly where it will land on the most-sold list. But potential buyers are clearly interested in a reasonably priced electric crossover. In case you’re wondering, the pricier Chevy Blazer EV is the ninth most-researched EV.
4. Hyundai Ioniq 5
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 lands in fourth place. Hyundai offers several strong electric vehicles in America, but the most-researched version is the wagon-shaped Ioniq 5. The Kia EV6 is similar to the Hyundai under the skin, and it sits in 11th place. The Ioniq 6 sedan lands in 16th. In any of its shapes, the Hyundai Group’s electric vehicles stack up very well when compared to their competitors from Tesla even if they don’t sell in the same volume.
5. Kia EV9
The fifth most-researched EV in America in February of 2025 was the Kia EV9. Considering it’s a crossover, which is certain to add to its appeal for SUV-hungry American buyers, and that it offers three rows of seating for up to seven passengers, we’re not surprised that it’s popular online. We won’t be surprised to see it land high up in the sales charts at the end of the year, either.
